How do i know if my cooking pot is suitable to go in the oven?

i have a large stainless steel pot with 2 handles and a lid. I use this for stews etc on the hob but how do i know if it is suitable to go in my oven? How do i know if my cooking pot is suitable to go in the oven?
well if the handles are stainless steel as well then yes.How do i know if my cooking pot is suitable to go in the oven?
Most of the pots and pans that have ';plastic'; looking handles can go in the oven but the temperature should not be above 400 degrees F.

So if you are going to bake, cook, braise, stew you should be fine. Just don't broil.

Now if the cook set is one of the real cheap ones that warp and bend then the handles just might be plastic and I wouldn't risk it, then again the holidays are coming and if you have a lousy set of cookware it's time to get a new set.
If there is no plastic on the cooking pot or lid, it will be okay in the oven. When you bought it the tag may have said if it was oven safe or not. If you know the brand, google it and see if you can find the information.
General rule of thumb is that if it can sit on a hot element, it can go in the oven. If there's no wood or plastic, it's safe.
If the pot does not contain any non-metal parts then it should be safe to go in the oven.
